In the Spring of 2013, former and new singers from the choirs of Paignton Parish Church and from St. Andrew's Church came together to form a new choir upon the return of Gareth Perkins who had been organist and choirmaster at Paignton Parish Church since 1997, but who had taken a while out to recuperate after suffering ill health, where he now combines both churches in his role as Parish Organist.
We are a friendly and enthusiastic four-part choir who - with new-found enthusiasm - now meet on Wednesday evenings for our rehearsals. We present a choral item each Sunday at the Parish Church and as often as possible at St. Andrew's (which we hope to make weekly as new members join), in addition to leading the congregational singing. We are greatly enjoying expanding our repertoire, and welcoming new - and returning - members.
Future plans - as we continue to expand our membership, repertoire and ability - include giving concerts in our churches, and visits to Cathedrals to sing Evensong when Cathedral choirs are on holiday. Exciting times are ahead!
